Diggers & Dreamers are a not-for-profit collective whose aims are to dispel the myth that communes came and went with the 1960's, and to bring the idea of communal living to the attention of more people.

The collective has been publishing information about communal living since 1989 - both in the form of printed books and on their website. Over the years, D&D has published articles as well as directories, has started to publish a series of themed reviews, the first of which is on Cohousing in the UK. You might say they are a one-stop-shop for everything you need to know about communal living in the UK.

We're delighted to be joined at Small is Beautiful by Chris Coates, Editor of Diggers & Dreamers. Chris is also Vice-chair of the International Communal Studies Association, founder member Forgebank Cohousing in Lancaster, board member of the UK Cohousing Network, and the author of two books, Utopia Britannica and Communes Britannica.
